    Entry Requirements

    General Admission Criteria for 2026

    Basic Requirements:

    • National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Bachelor’s Degree endorsement/exemption
    • Minimum Admission Point Score (APS) ranging from 22 to 30 depending on the program
    • English as a language of learning and teaching (minimum level 4 or 50-59%)
    • Specific subject requirements as outlined per program
    • Meeting both faculty-specific and program-specific requirements

    Faculty-Specific Entry Requirements

    Faculty of Humanities Requirements

    Education Programs (BEd):

    • Minimum APS: 26-28
    • Language proficiency in English and preferably an African language
    • Specific subject requirements based on teaching specialization
    • For Mathematics/Science teaching: Mathematics and Physical Science required

    Social Sciences & Arts Programs:

    • Minimum APS: 22-26
    • Strong language and communication skills
    • For Psychology-related programs: Mathematics and Life Sciences advantageous
    • For Media/Journalism: English at higher level recommended

    Faculty of Health Sciences Requirements

    MBChB (Medicine):

    • Minimum APS: 30+
    • Mathematics, Physical Science, and Life Sciences at high levels (minimum level 5/6)
    • Highly competitive – additional selection tests may apply
    • National Benchmark Tests (NBTs) required

    Other Health Sciences:

    • Nursing, Pharmacy, Optometry: APS 28-30
    • Mathematics and Life Sciences/Physical Science required
    • BSc Dietetics: Strong Chemistry and Life Sciences background
    • Additional health checks and immunizations may be required

    Faculty of Science and Agriculture Requirements

    Agriculture Programs:

    • Minimum APS: 24-26
    • Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) required
    • Physical Science and/or Life Sciences recommended
