    Sanlam Actuarial Bursary Programme

    The Sanlam Actuarial Bursary Programme is targeted at two key groups of future actuaries:

    1. School-leaving learners (the Class of 2026) who have excelled academically and intend to begin a full-time Actuarial Science degree in 2027.
    2. Current full-time Actuarial Science students already in their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of undergraduate study at a recognised South African university.

    The programme is intensely selective, looking not only for academic excellence but also for leadership potential, resilience, and a genuine passion for the actuarial profession.

    Entry Requirements for Sanlam Group Bursary

    To be eligible, all applicants must:

    • Be South African citizens.
    • Be registered (or intend to register) as full-time Actuarial Science students (1st, 2nd, or 3rd year in 2027).
    • Demonstrate strong academic performance and clear leadership potential.

    School-Leaving Learners (Class of 2026)

    Prospective students must:

    • Intend to study Actuarial Science in 2027.
    • Achieve above 90% in Mathematics.
    • Have an overall A aggregate.
    • Show strong problem-solving ability, discipline, and academic focus.

    Sanlam Actuarial Bursary Benefits

    This is a comprehensive bursary designed to remove financial barriers and provide holistic career development. Benefits include:

    Required Documents

    Preparing your documents is a critical part of the application. Ensure all are clear, certified copies where required.

    For Undergraduate Students:

    • Full academic transcripts.
    • Proof of university registration and/or a fee statement for 2026/2027.
    • Matric certificate.
    • Certified copy of South African ID.
    • A comprehensive CV detailing academic achievements, leadership roles, and extracurricular activities.

    For School-Leaving Learners:

    • Final Grade 11 (2025) results.
    • Grade 12 mid-year (2026) results.
    • NBT results (if available). Final Grade 12 results will be a deciding factor.
    • A comprehensive CV.
    • A detailed motivation letter answering specific questions (see below).

    Motivation Letter Questions:

    Your motivation is a key differentiator. You must thoughtfully answer:

    • What does an actuary do?
    • Why have you chosen to study actuarial science?
    • Why do you believe you can succeed as an actuary?
    • Why should Sanlam select you for this bursary?
    • What alternative career paths would you consider if your actuarial studies are unsuccessful?

    How to Apply for Sanlam Actuarial Bursary 2027

    The application process is strictly managed online.

    1. Applications must be completed online only. No emailed submissions or hard copies will be accepted.
    2. Visit the official Sanlam careers or bursary website to find and access the 2027 bursary application portal.
    3. Complete all sections accurately and upload all required documents.
    4. Submit your application well before the deadline.
